About us

The Curators

We are a small editorial team who share one habit: we cannot walk past a film can, a faded poster or a projection porthole without stopping to look.

What this gallery is

Reelbanterbulletinre is an independent, non-commercial publication about cinema on celluloid. Instead of reviewing films, we look at the physical culture around them: the strip, the projector, the poster and the archive. Each page is organised as a room in an exhibition, with wall labels summarising the key facts so you can take in the essentials at a glance before reading further.

How we research

Every figure on a wall label, from sixteen frames per foot to the eight-second motor cue, is checked against technical literature, archive publications and, where possible, people who have done the work in a booth or lab. We prefer to say less and be right than to repeat colourful stories we cannot verify. Where practice varied between countries or decades, we say so.

We draw on published material from institutions such as the BFI, the George Eastman Museum, the Library of Congress and manufacturer documentation from Kodak, alongside the work of film historians. Naming an organisation does not imply that it endorses us.

Our independence

We are not affiliated with any studio, archive, cinema, laboratory, poster dealer or film manufacturer mentioned on this site. We do not accept payment for coverage, we do not sell memorabilia, and we do not run advertising. Nothing here is a valuation or authentication of any object you own.

Corrections

If you spot an error, we want to know. Write to [email protected] or compose a note in the guestbook. We review every correction and update wall labels where the evidence supports it.
